Sundials are an eye-catching way to stylize your garden, patio or other outdoor area. Proper care will ensure that your garden sundial will last longer and stay looking great. Bronze or Brass Sundials If your garden sundial is cast from brass or bronze, you'll need to periodically apply a high-quality metal polish (ask at your local hardware store) to retain the original clarity and gloss of the garden sundial finish. However, many people prefer the verdigris (weathered green) finish that occurs naturally over time on items made from brass or bronze. In this case, upkeep for your garden sundial is minimal. Concerning weather resistance, aluminum sundials are durable and fairly low-maintenance choices. Powder coat finishes are applied to aluminum sundials to preserve their appearance and add protection. Clean your aluminum sundial occasionally with mild soap and water and a cloth, then rinse.
